Void

Everything was destroyed
that night, which was dark and chilled
in her life, there was a void
which can never be filled.

On that night
She stood there, on the street, crying.
Her face with fear and fright
She started praying.

She slumped in dejection
But her eyes searching in each direction.

Her child was missing
A reunion is what she was wishing.

She asked every person
in the overcrowded market place
about her son.
She showed the photos of his son’s face
and gave the description of his coat, scarf and trousers.

Her hopes fading,
Her tears flowing,
Her heart praying,
Her eyes waiting,
Her mouth saying
“Please come back”.
